IRIS HARTMAN

Iris Hartman (1992) studied at the Nederlandse Academie voor Beeldcreatie in Rotterdam. In 2019 she was one of the nominees for the Harry Pennings Award and she won the audience prize.

After intense occurrences in her youth, Iris Hartman reflects her unspeakable reality on nature through photography. She looks with admiration at the natural environment which is, like human, formed in prosperity and adversity. In her visual language, she uses nature as a decor in which trees act as persona with individual characters. By making use of light and artificial interventions, she tries to bring the viewer into her wonder and encourage them to be intimately connected with this resilient environment.
